Jeff Borst

Jeff Borst (Chief Executive Officer)

Jeff is the Chief Executive Officer at Fortitude Technologies LLC. He has been a Systems Engineer and Technical Project Manager for more than 17 years. Jeff is an expert at getting developers to do his bidding, often employing Jedi mind tricks to help his development teams see problems and solutions from different angles. Jeff likes to help teams build custom software to meet unique business needs. He has led all kinds of development efforts from client-server applications, to large web applications, to Big Data systems. A former developer himself, Jeff has a unique mix of technical know-how and business savvy that makes him just the kind of Project Manager that developers want to have, and customers need. Jeff started Fortitude Technologies LLC in 2013 to provide exceptional technologists a great place to work, and to provide customers with the best technical solution possible.

Jeff has a B.S. in Commerce from the University of Virginia, with concentrations in Finance and Management Information Systems. In his free time, Jeff dotes on his two daughters, coaches soccer, rides his bike and occasionally hacks up a local golf course.

Aaron McCurry

Chief Scientist

Aaron McCurry (Chief Scientist)

Aaron is the Chief Scientist at Fortitude Technologies. He has been developing software for the last 18 years ranging from web applications to search engines to distributed SQL engines. He began his career working for Virginia Tech as a programmer while he was still a student. In the last few years his focus has been on large scale distributed systems, though he still tinkers with web applications on occasion.

Aaron holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Virginia Tech. He created the Apache Blur project and spends a lot of his free time developing open source software. Aaron enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter. During the summer, you can find Aaron at the pool either cheering his daughter on at her swim meets or just beating the heat. The rest of the year, Aaron moonlights as a contractor moving from one home project to the next or as a potential Top Gear host doing his best to maintain his speed, but itching to see what his cars can really do.

Scott Leberknight

Chief Technology Officer

Scott Leberknight (Chief Technology Officer)

Scott is the Chief Technology Officer at Fortitude Technologies. He has been developing software for over 20 years using many different technologies. He started a long time ago in a galaxy far away with FORTRAN and C on a VAX and now uses ostensibly more modern ones like Java, Ruby, Groovy, and Python. He dabbles in functional languages like Scala and Clojure, is interested in way too many different technologies to list, and likes solving challenging problems in (hopefully somewhat) pragmatic ways.

Scott holds a B.S. in Engineering Science and Mechanics from Virginia Tech, and a Masters in Systems Engineering from the University of Maryland. He has spoken at the No Fluff Just Stuff conferences, various user groups, and conferences like DevIgnition. Scott enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. He also plays and coaches soccer, snowboards, and mountain bikes whenever he can. Despite all that, he (unfortunately) will still not be ready when the zombie apocalypse occurs…

Peggy Borst

Business Manager

Peggy Borst (Business Manager)

Peggy is the Business Manager for Fortitude Technologies. Once upon a time, she was an entrepreneurial project manager accustomed to high levels of responsibility with an extensive background in web application development. She built highly motivated software development teams focused on achieving common goals. Peggy enjoys leading startup initiatives and has demonstrated success in customer relations. Peggy has applied her skills to helping Fortitude Technologies achieve its goals relating to recruiting, project management, human resources, public relations and company culture.

Peggy received a B.S. in Business Management with a minor in International Business from Virginia Tech. Formerly a PMP, Peggy never understood how managing a child’s activity schedule, household finances and two-year old temper tantrums does not qualify for continuing education in PMP program. Alas, she continues to stay home with her children and works tirelessly to ensure the happiness of Fortitude employees, as well as the happiness of their families. When not working at home or Fortitude, Peggy is doing Zumba with her toddler, digging in her garden, volunteering at her daughter’s school and leading her daughter's Girl Scout Troop.
